What is the Seniors Real estate Specialist (SRES®) Designation?

SRES® is the only designation and marketing program specifically designed to serve senior property owners. SRES® designees demonstrate requisite knowledge and expertise to council senior clients through the major financial and lifestyle transitions involved in relocation, refinancing, or selling a home. As your specialist I understand the range of housing and developmental needs. I understand the major concerns and fears facing each segment of your future and the tools needed to effectively address them. I would prefer to be your counselor or advisor then just your salesperson. I understand your lifestyle needs and the various professional services you may require.

National Council On Aging has many programs help to improve the lives of older adults:

  • Access to Benefits Coalition - Ensures that Medicare beneficiaries with limited incomes know about and can make the best use of all available resources for accessing prescription drugs and reducing their costs.

  • BenefitsCheckUp - Helps seniors with limited income and resources find benefits programs that help with prescription drug costs, rent, energy bills, food, and more.

  • Center for Healthy Aging - Is a significant, national resource center for professionals interested in developing and implementing healthy aging programs such as health promotion, falls prevention, disease prevention, and chronic disease self-management.

  • Diffusion of Innovations - Helps non-profit organizations assess their readiness to adopt and speed the adoption of new ideas and programs.

  • Health Education Program - Promotes healthy aging through consumer education campaigns on medical conditions affecting older persons.

  • My Medicare Matters - Is a community-based education program that is helping thousands of people with Medicare learn about and enroll in the Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage (Part D).

  • National Center for Family Friends - Connects older adult volunteers with families who have children with disabilities in communities nationwide.

  • RespectAbility - Seeks to help non-profit organizations make more effective use of older Americans in their community-based efforts.

  • Senior Center National Accreditation Program - Provides official recognition that a senior center is meeting its mission in a nationally accepted professional fashion.

  • Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) - Provides training and employment opportunities to low-income Americans over age 55.

  • Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) - Supports environmental projects and older workers.

  • Use Your Home to Stay at Home - Encourages the appropriate use of reverse mortgages to help older Americans pay for long-term care services at home.

  • Wisdom Works - Fosters civic engagement among older adults through self-directed teams.
  • The Henry J. Kaiser Family FoundationTalking With Parents about Health Coverage - This guide, designed to help you and your parents sort through basic issues about Medicare and health coverage, was written by the Medicare Rights Center in collaboration with The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation and was updated in 2003.
  • The most current and comprehensive database of all licensed senior housing in the U.S. and a growing number of independent living communities.

  • AARPAARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization for people age 50 and over. AARP is dedicated to enhancing quality of life for all as we age. We lead positive social change and deliver value to members through information, advocacy and service. AARP also provides a wide range of unique benefits, special products, and services for our members.
  • National Association of Elder Law AttorneysThe National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Inc. is a non-profit association that assists lawyers, bar organizations and others who work with older clients and their families. Established in 1987, the Academy provides a resource of information, education, networking and assistance to those who deal with the many specialized issues involved with legal services to the elderly and people with special needs.
  • EldercareThe Eldercare Locator is the first step to finding resources for older adults in any U.S. community. Just one phone call or Website visit provides an instant connection to resources that enable older persons to live independently in their communities. The service links those who need assistance with state and local area agencies on aging and community-based organizations that serve older adults and their caregivers.
  • North Carolina Seniors Information & Resource Guide promotes independence and enhance the dignity of North Carolina's older adults, persons with disabilities, and their families through a community-based system of opportunities, services, benefits, and protections; to ready younger generations to enjoy their later years; and to help society and government plan and prepare for the changing demographics.
  • American Institute of Financial Gerontology - Financial Gerontology was established as a discipline in 1988. Since that time, Financial Gerontologists have worked to identify those gerontological concepts, issues, data and research findings most relevant to financial services and to communicate them to a broad range of professionals through teaching and applied research. Financial Gerontology is multidisciplinary, building on relevant teachings from biology, psychology, sociology and demography to understand the lifelong wealth span issues and aspirations of aging individuals and their families.
  • American Association of Daily Money Managers -The American Association of Daily Money Managers (AADMM) is a membership organization comprised of individuals who provide daily money management services directly to their own clients. The AADMM is committed to promoting high standards of client services provided by members, and to supporting the growth of the daily money management industry, in numbers of providers, in recognition of the field, and in the quality of services provided.
  • Reverse Mortgage - Established in 1997, NRMLA is the national voice for lenders and investors engaged in the reverse mortgage business. NRMLA fulfills several roles, which include educating consumers about the opportunity to utilize reverse mortgages, training lenders to be sensitive to the needs of older Americans, developing Best Practices and enforcing a Code of Conduct to make sure lenders participating in the program treat seniors respectfully, and promoting reverse mortgages in the media.
  • American Fact FinderCensus Information -The Census Bureau conducts many censuses and surveys. The most well-known is the official population census of the United States, called the decennial census. It is conducted every ten years, most recently in April 2000. During each decennial census, the Census Bureau collects data from every household in the U.S. and its territories.

Besides the decennial census, the Census Bureau conducts nearly one hundred other surveys and censuses every year. By law, no one is permitted to reveal information from these censuses and surveys that could identify any person, household, or business. Individual records from each decennial census are made public 72 years after the census has been taken.
